Thinking outside the box when it comes to your wedding dress

Thinking outside the box when it comes to your wedding dress

Who says a bride must wear a white or ivory gown? Who says you must have a long train or veil? Today's brides have more freedom to express their personal style and are not letting convention get in the way of their dream dress.

Tina Waller is a wedding dress designer in Maidenhead, Berkshire and is finding that more brides today are requesting a non-traditional dress that stand out from the crowd.

One question I get asked a lot from brides contacting me is “can you design a dress that isn’t white or ivory?” or “I want something different but I’m not sure if you can design it for me”.  For many brides, they simply do not want to follow the bridal tradition and want to try something different, that better reflects their personality and sense of style.

I’ve provided some examples of dresses that I have designed below to open your imagination and prove that thinking outside the box might not be a bad decision after all.

red wedding dress

A red wedding dress makes a real statement

We’ll always love a classic white gown, but bold red dresses as Jeni is wearing prove it’s just as romantic to walk down the aisle in the colour you love.

Red is a colour that says, “I am bold” and “I’m a woman who knows what I want.” A red gown speaks volumes before anyone has even seen your face. If you want a show-stopping wedding dress, choose red!

pink wedding dress

Add a fairy-tale touch to your big day!

White wedding dresses will be forever classic and timeless, but the allure of a pale pink wedding dress has captured our hearts.

Feel like a princess for the day and opt for a pale pink wedding dress which offers a hint of colour while still maintaining a classic bridal look.

It is such a delicate shade you could think your eyes are playing tricks on you – perfect if you want to be untraditional, but subtly so.

blue wedding dress

Be bold, be beautiful - white wedding dresses now have some competition!

If you’re looking for something different why not be bold and add a touch of blue to your wedding day.

Blue wedding dresses are a great alternative for a modern-day bride who wants to express her individuality and personal style.

For any bride who wants to scoff at convention, create their own tradition or show a little of their bright and brave personality choose a wedding dress with a splash (or more) of colour!

medieval wedding dress

Think medieval and choose a more alternative style dress

Medieval and fantasy style wedding dresses are becoming more and more popular since the Game of Thrones came to our TV screens!

Whether you prefer a cloak made from luxurious velvet or a fur-trimmed hooded dress I can design your dress that oozes style and uniqueness.

Wedding dresses influenced by art, theatre, period costume or history are becoming more popular. My designs are inspired by medieval garments, illuminations and art and are cut using modern techniques based on how medieval garments would have been made.
